This cd is a true gem! Mansa Camio is featured here but it is his entire ensemble, Sofoli, that makes this album such a joy to listen to. It’s impossible to listen to this cd without noticing that it has the best of all worlds. Camio’s style as a solist perfectly blends the best of traditional village style playing with a strong ballet flare. His style of play is fast, clean and sweet, a sound that he pulls off on a djembe that is tuned lower and has lots of tone. Equally noticeable in this album is the smokin’ dunun ensemble that backs him. This is what the music should sound like!

 This album should be especially noted for its exceptional recording quality. This is one of the best live recordings to date! Imagine the sound quality of a studio cut Famadou Konate CD with the energy of a live performance.
